          खरोखरच आज छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज अवतरले तर ते आनंदी होतील की दुःखी? भारत देशामध्ये वर्तमान स्थितीमध्ये परकीयांचे राज्य नसून, जनतेचे स्वतःचे स्वराज्य आहे, हे कळल्यामुळे मात्र ते खूप आनंदी होतील. आपले स्वराज्याचे स्वप्न, जनतेचे स्वतःचे राज्य, श्रींचे राज्य साकार झाले आहे म्हणून ते सुखावतील. आपण जे मराठ्यांचे साम्राज्य निर्माण केले ते आपल्या जनतेने आपल्या पाठीमागे अबादित ठेवले आहे, हे पाहून त्यांना मनोमन हर्ष होईल. त्यांनी स्वतःच्या शिस्तबध्द लष्काराच्या .बळावर आणि संघटितशिर प्रशासकीय यंत्रणेवा हे स्वराज्य स्थापन केले होते. विविध गनिमी काव्यांचा वापर करून बलाढ्य शत्रूंना त्यांनी नेस्ताभूत केले होते. शहाजी राजे यांच्याकडून मिळालेल्या मोजक्याच सैन्य तुकडी मध्ये वाढ करून त्यांनी मोठे लष्कर उभे केले होते. त्यांनी सागरी किल्ल्यांसोबतच अनेक डोंगरी किल्ल्यांची निर्मिती केली होती. 

          आपण निमार्ण केलेल्या स्वराज्यामध्ये फेरफटका मारावा, या विचाराने छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज त्यांच्या आवडत्या घोडीची मागणी करतील, तेव्हा त्यांच्या समोर हेलिकॉप्टर उभे केले जाईल. शिवाजी महाराज स्वतःच्या स्वराज्याची पाहणी करायला बाहेर पडतील आणि आजूबाजूची सर्व परिस्थिती पाहून मात्र ते खूप संतप्त होतील. ज्या स्वराज्या मध्ये त्यांनी कधीही जातीभेद केला नाही, धर्म भेद मानला नाही, सर्व भाषांचा सन्मान केला त्याच स्वराज्यामध्ये जागोजागी जाती, धर्म, भाषा अशा निमित्ताने चाललेले संघर्ष पाहून त्यांना त्यांच्या शिस्तबध्द शासन पध्दतीचे स्मरण होईल. छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज हे अत्यंत धैर्यशील व उत्कृष्ट नेतृत्वगुण असणारे राजे होते. त्यांनी स्वराज्यासाठी चिवटपणे लढणारा महारात्ट्रातील सर्व जाती बांधवांचा एक गट तयार केला केला होता. आपल्या निर्वाणानंतर तीनशे वर्षानंतर ही भारतातील मागासलेपणा व अंतर्गत कलह पाहून त्यांच्या मनाला खूप यातना होतील.

          हे सर्व पाहत असताना महाराजांचे लक्ष एकविसाव्या शतकातील वृतपत्रांकडे जाईल. दैनिकांची ही कल्पना त्यांना खूप आवडेल. आपण सुध्दा अशी वृतपत्रे काढली असती, भविष्यात 'बखरी' लिहून घेणे अगदी सहज सोपे झाले असते. असे त्यांच्या मनात येईल. परंतू महाराजांनी याच वर्तमान पत्रावरून सहज नजर फिरवली तर ते खूप व्यथित होतील. कारण त्यांना त्यामध्ये स्त्रीयांवरील अत्याचाराच्या बातम्या दिसतील, अनेक स्त्रीयांना हुंडा दिला नाही म्हणून स्वतःच्या जीव गमवावा लागला याविषयी वाचायला मिळेल. देशातील अनेक क्षेत्रे भष्टाचारांनी भरबटलेली आहेत याची त्यांना माहिती मिळेल. सर्वत्र अंधाधुंदी माजली आहे. हे चित्र त्यांच्या समोर उभे होईल. हे सर्व पाहून ते गरजतील, "असे करणाऱ्या सर्व अपराध्यांचे हात कलम केले पाहिजेत. अरे, प्रत्येक स्त्री ही मातेसमान असते".
