भारत माझा देश आहे. याचा मला सार्थ अभिमान आहे. माझ्या भारताचे सर्वात मोठे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे येथे विविधतेत एकता आहे. भारत हा विशाल देश आहे. भारताच्या नावाबाबतही अनेक कथा रूढ आहेत. या विशाल देशाची लोकसंख्या ही अफाट आहे. भारताच्या लोकसंख्येने अलीकडे नुकताच एक अब्जाचा टप्पा ओलांडला आहे.
भारतात भौगोलिक विविधता आहे. सर्व प्रकारचे ऋतुमान वेगवेगळ्या भागात एकाच वेळी आढळते. तरीपण मोसमी वाऱ्यांचे वरदान, हिमालयाची मायेची पाखर आणि गंगा, यमुना, कृष्णा, गोदावरी यांसारख्या अनेक नद्याची मायममता यावर पोसलेली ही भूमी एकेकाळी 'सुवर्णभूमी' म्हणून ओळखली जात असे. अशा या भारतात निसर्ग खरोखरच प्रसन्न आहे. नैसर्गिक सौंदर्याची एवढी विविधता अन्यत्र कोठेही आपणास आढळत नाही.
भारताचा इतिहास ही मोठा रोमांचक व स्फूर्तिदायक आहे. भारतीयांची सर्वात मोठी ठेव म्हणजे प्राचीन भारतीय संस्कृती. हजारो वर्षाची तेजस्वी परंपरा तिला लाभली आहे. भारताचे आणखी एक वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे, भारतात बोलल्या जाणाऱ्या विविध भाषा. या सार्‍या भाषा आपापल्या साहित्याने समृद्ध आहेत. हिंदी ही भारताची राष्ट्रभाषा. तर 'सत्यमेव जयते!' हे आपल्या भारत देशाचे ब्रीदवाक्य. भिन्न धर्म, पंथ, ग्रंथ, जाती अंगिकारलेले कोट्यावधी लोक या देशात गुण्यागोविंदाने राहतात. शेतीची उत्पादने, उद्योग - व्यवसाय यांत जशी भिन्नता आहे तशी नुत्य, नाट्य, संगीत, चित्रकला इत्यादी ललित कलांच्या अविष्कारातही भिन्नता आहे. पण या विविधतेतही एकता आहे, कारण शेवटी आम्ही सर्वजण भारतीय आहोत.
आम्ही भारतीय अनेकदा एकमेकांशी भांडतो, वाद घालतो, कधी कधी संघर्षही करतो, पण इतिहास काय सांगतो? वर्तमान कशाची ग्वाही देतो? की ज्या ज्या वेळी भारतावर परकीय आक्रमण आले, संकट आले - मग ते नैसर्गिक असो वा मानव निर्मित असो - त्या त्या वेळी आम्ही भारतीय सारे मतभेद विसरून एका दिलाने आणि यशस्वीपणे याला सामोरे गेलो आहोत. त्यामुळेच जगाच्या पाठीवर कोठेही वावरणाऱ्या भारतीयांच्या मनात एक मंत्र सदैव गुंजत असतो, तो म्हणजे, 'माझा भारत महान!'

India is my country. I am very proud of this. The biggest feature of my India is the unity in diversity here. India is a huge country. There are many stories about the name of India. The population of this vast country is vast. India's population has recently crossed the one billion mark.
India has geographical diversity. All seasons occur simultaneously in different regions. Nevertheless, the land was once known as the 'Golden Land', nourished by the blessings of the monsoon winds, the feathers of the Himalayas and the majesty of many rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Krishna and Godavari. In such an India, nature is really pleasing. Nowhere else do you find such diversity of natural beauty.
The history of India is very exciting and inspiring. The largest deposit of Indians is the ancient Indian culture. She has a glorious tradition of thousands of years. Another feature of India is the variety of languages spoken in India. All these languages are rich in their own literature. Hindi is the national language of India. So 'Satyamev Jayate!' This is the motto of our country India. Millions of people of different religions, creeds, scriptures, castes live in this country. Just as there is a difference between agricultural products, industry and business, there is also a difference in the invention of fine arts like dance, drama, music, painting etc. But there is unity in this diversity as well, because in the end we are all Indians.
We Indians often quarrel with each other, argue, sometimes even struggle, but what does history tell us? What does the present testify to? That whenever there was a foreign invasion of India, a crisis - whether it was natural or man-made - we Indians have forgotten all differences and faced them with one heart and successfully. That is why there is always a mantra in the minds of Indians around the world, 'My India is great!'
