कोणाला छंद असतो गाण्याचा, तर कोणाला गडकिल्ले हिंडण्याचा, तर कुणाला पोस्टाची तिकिटे, जुनी नाणी किंवा विविध जुन्या दुर्मिळ वस्तू जमवण्याचा. काहीजण एकांतात सतार छेडत बसतात. कोणी पुस्तकांना आपले मित्र मानतात, तर कुणी कागदावर कुंचल्यांनी चित्र रेखाटण्याचा आनंद लुटतात. माझा छंद मात्र जरा मुलखावेगळा आहे. लहानपणापासून मला आवड आहे ती, माणसे जोडण्याची आणि जस जसा मी मोठा होत गेलो, तस तशी माझी ही आवड सतत वाढतच गेली.
माझ्या लहानपणापासून मला आपल्या घरी खूप माणसे यावीत, घरात वर्दळ वाढावी, गडबड उडावी असे खूप खूप वाटे. सुट्टीचा वार रविवार आणि सुट्टीचा 'मे' महिना मला अत्यंत प्रिय आहे. कारण सुट्टी मध्ये खूप पाहुणे घरी येतात. उन्हाळ्याची सुट्टी येण्यापूर्वीच मी माझ्या आप्तांना, मित्रांना आमंत्रणे पाठवतो. त्यांना वाटते की, किती प्रेमळ, लाघवी मुलगा आहे. पण माझे माणूस वेडाचे रहस्य त्यांना अज्ञात असते.
मला कोणतीही माणसे आवडतात. आम्ही जेव्हा एका मोठा शहरामध्ये राहायला आलो, तेव्हा मी प्राथमिक शाळेत होतो, मोकळा वेळ भरपूर असे. तेथे बांधकाम करणाऱ्या माणसांशी मी दोस्ती करत असे. इमारतीचे बांधकाम शहरात खूप चालते आणि अशा ठिकाणी काम करण्यासाठी खूप महिला असत आणि त्यांच्याबरोबर त्यांची लहान मुलेही असत. त्या मुलांबरोबर मी खूप खेळत असे. त्यांच्याकडून मी विटीदांडूचा खेळ शिकलो. ही मुले लहान वयातच आपल्या आई-वडिलांना केवढी मदत करतात! आज हिच मुले मोठी होऊन स्वतःच स्वतःची कामे करू लागली आहेत.
माझा हा छंद सतत वाढतच गेला. वर्गातील मित्रच काय, पण शाळेतील इतर वर्गातील अनेक मुलां मुलींशी माझी गट्टी जमली. मला एकमेकांशी वार्तालाप करायला खूप आवडते, पण तितकेच मला इतरांचे विचारही ऐकायला आवडतात. त्यामुळे माझा दूरचा प्रवासही कधी कंटाळवाणा होत नाही. प्रवासात अनेक ओळखी होतात, अनेक अनुभव ऐकायला मिळतात. अनेकांशी मैत्रीचे संबंध निर्माण होतात. गाडीत माल विकणाऱ्या फेरीवाल्यांन बरोबरही गप्पा मारायला मला आवडते. मी माझ्या अनुभवांतून मित्र जोडण्याचे व मैत्री टिकवण्याचे एक शास्त्र तयार केली आहे. म्हणजे मी जोडलेली असंख्य माणसे, मित्रमंडळी सदैव माझ्याभोवती असतात - कधी प्रत्यक्ष, कधी पत्ररूपाने तर कधी छायाचित्रांच्या स्वरूपात!
माझ्या या मित्रांसाठी मला वेळ द्यायला लागतो. अगदी परीक्षेच्या दिवसातही एखाद्यासाठी माझा वेळ खर्च करावा लागतो. पण त्यात मला आगळा आनंद मिळतो. माझे सुख, सर्वस्व या छंदात सामावलेले आहे. 'छंद माझा वेगळा, आनंद माझा वेगळा' हेच खरे!

Some have a hobby of singing, some have a hobby of walking around forts, some have a hobby of collecting postage stamps, old coins or various old rare items. Some sit in solitude teasing the satar. Some people consider books as their friends, while others enjoy drawing on paper with a brush. My hobby, however, is a bit different. It's been my passion since I was a kid, connecting people and as I got older, my passion kept growing.

Because a lot of guests come home during the holidays. I send invitations to my relatives and friends before the summer holidays. They think, what a loving, gentle boy he is. But the secret of my man madness is unknown to them.
I like any man. When we moved to a big city, I was in elementary school, there was plenty of free time. I made friends with the builders there. The construction of the building is very busy in the city and there were many women to work in such places and they also had their small children with them. I used to play a lot with those kids. From them I learned the game of Vitidandu. How these children help their parents at an early age! Today, these same children are growing up and doing their own thing.
My hobby kept growing. Not only friends in the class, but I also met many boys and girls from other classes in the school. I love talking to each other, but I also love listening to others. So my long journey never gets boring. Many acquaintances are made on the journey, many experiences are heard. Friendships are formed with many. I also like to chat with peddlers who sell goods in cars. I have developed a scripture from my experiences to make friends and maintain friendships. I mean, the countless people I connect with, the friends are always around me - sometimes in person, sometimes in the form of letters and sometimes in the form of photographs!
I have to make time for these friends of mine. Even on exam days I have to spend my time for someone. But I still enjoy it. My happiness, everything is contained in this hobby. It is true that 'my hobby is different, my happiness is different'!
