"आज सकाळी सकाळी वर्तमानपत्रामध्ये आलेली ती वार्ता / बातमी येथील एका कैद्याने अचानकपणे वाचली आणि माझे मन आनंदाने भरून आले. अत्यानंदाने आपल्या या वृद्ध भिंती कोसळणार तर नाहीत ना, असे मला वाटत होती. अरे हो! पण ती आनंदाची बातमी कोणती, ते मी तुम्हाला सांगितलंच नाही. अहो, आपल्या डॉ. किरण बेदी आहेत ना! त्यांना इंग्लंड मधून आमंत्रण आले आहे. कशासाठी? तर तेथील तुरूंगांची सुधारणा करण्यासाठी. पण मी कोण ते कळले का तुम्हाला? मी दिल्लीचा तिहार जेल - कारागृह - बोलतोय."
